It’s [almost] always a pleasure to interview bands from different countries.. Tonight, I had the pleasure of speaking with Chris and Andy, the two talented gentlemen who make up the anticipated-electronic-duo Crisand, which has roots in both London and Rome.
What are your thoughts on the current status of the music industry (particularly record labels)?
Everybody’s crying about the music industry..we think that internet,social market and social media are the future so, everybody must change the point of view. Cds are going to die.
How did you come up with the band name? (wait.. I’m an idiot.)
Yes, it’s a “words game” between Chris (Crys) and Andy (and) but it could be also a “cry of the sand”… it could be everything you want lol.
Have you ever been to America?
Never to play music. Chris lived in Miami for 1 year during 1997 and Andy, well, his honeymoon was just last year in Vegas :) Wish to come soon to promote the upcoming album.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “U.S.A.”?
For us U.S.A means “everything”, good and bad!
Tell us about your biggest inspirations. (they don’t have to be JUST musical):
Is very hard to say who or what inspire us, Everything! We play (and played) almost all genres of music so, it could be electro, rock, metal, rap, classical, psychedelic, hip hop, grunge… but not only music. Dreaming, wondering, talkin’ with someone… could be a great inspiration for us.
In your opinion, what’s the best way for an independent band to make money these days?
The internet. Everybody now listens , shares and downloads music through itunes, youtube, blogs/forums, smartphones, pc and so on…
Describe the music scene in Rome:
Very bad. There are talented bands but the problem is the crowd, more than venues ( another dramatic point..) . The thing is that in Rome, but even in Italy too, music is considered something useless and musicians unnecessary, think of an italian famous band like Lacuna Coil, they left early from here, for that we travel frequently in London.
How does London play a role in your band?
Is the best city for music in Europe (even with Berlin in Germany, where we’ll play April 7th for the album’s release party). World’s crisis is over there too, so even in music there are some bad points, but is not comparable to the italian situation.
Any upcoming new or tours that you wanna plug?
Yes, as we said before,on April 7th we’ll be in Berlin, and then Bierorusia, Russia and U.K. and, of course, we’re lookin’ to organize a U.S. tour if we find someone believe in us!
Random question: who would win in arm wrestle, Bill Withers or Morgan Freeman?
If it were up to us……HULK HOGAN! (We are big wrestling fans!) :D If we had to choose..mmm..Mr.Freeman!
