Long Beach, California-based ‘aggressive pop-rock’ quartet Bethpage Black independently released their EP Black Music last month.  Combining the sounds of The Used, All-Time Low, and Foo Fighters, I gotta admit- I just listened to this EP several times, and shitsbueno :)

I had coffee with the drummer today (Steve Coy), who is also the business-man in the band.  We discussed the benefits of remaining independent these days (and how our bands probably wouldn’t be together had we been ‘signed’ in the past).

It was interesting talking about the direction that both of our bands were headed in, as we were breaking down our 3-month plans.. I quickly realized that this guy has

Lega-c

Hitting at midnight tonight is the album DASH, Maryland-based Lega-c’s sixth addition to his discography.  The opening-track to the LP, entitled “Glory”, showcases a tasteful collaboration with Jay Hazel, where both artists rightfully get to show-off their soulful and rhythmic vocal abilities.. this got me digging the project right off the get-go.

The production of the album is to be commended.  It’s evident that Lega-c has the experience, the sense, and the EAR, that it takes to ‘occupy to the ceiling’, as he explains in this video

Consisting of a 13-track musical journey through love, anger, and a persistent quest-to-be-at-the-top, DASH is sure to take the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) by storm tomorrow..  Assuming the artist has a solid independent marketing plan up his sleeve, there’s no reason why his singles ‘Air Rick’ and ‘Tuberculosis’ (and the rest of the album, for that matter) wouldn’t spread like wild-fire.

Like Lega-c on his Facebook page, as I’m a believer that he’s deserving of way more than just over a thousand fans on his profiles (including Twitter).

My favorite tracks are: “No Radio” and “Glory (feat. Jay Hazel)”.  Buy this album!!!!!

In her bio, Miss Myi describes herself as ‘taking pop-princess to a whole new level’.  My first impression of her online presence, however, is that she seems more like a model, or a ‘celebutante’ (based on the only videos I could find).  Considering how talked-up her profiles are, it’s unfortunate that I could find no trace of this sexy girl dancing in her [makeshift] online portfolio.

The 2 (demo-ish) tracks on her ReverbNation profile make her out to be more of a wanna-be-web-sensation, than a pop diva, in my opinion.  With a little more experience, and the help of some visionary producers that can hopefully assist in generating more content, I predict that Miss Myi will break out of her shell and show the world what she is truly made of, but it’s gonna take more time.

We all have to start somewhere I guess, but contributing to a revolution in the world of sing-and-dance requires a little more content to represent yourself professionally, at least before you seek reviews.  Great art shines bright, and doesn’t need to be sold.

I hope to somehow inspire a more-collected and more-cohesive approach, and that my constructive criticism will resonate inside any strategic marketing plans for marketing Miss Myi in the future.  Cliche’, I know, but actions really do speak louder than words in this content-saturated, unforgiving e-verse where VIRALITY IS KING.

Richard Cowdrey - A Kind Of Blue

After having it suggested to me today, I picked up this album on Amazon from ..  What it boils down to is 12-tracks-full of tasteful guitar work, showcasing a fusion of jazz, blues, r&b and recognizable pop-rock covers, such as U2’s New Years Day and The Fly.

The sonic spectrum is fairly wide with these tracks, which makes for a well-rounded listening experience.  Let’s face it though, I have ultimate respect for anyone daring enough to step out on a limb with an instrumental record.  Seems untraditional, I know, until you pay the music the attention it deserves. :)

I couldn’t tell if the instruments were real or not, but still enjoyed the grooves!

Check out Richard Cowdrey’s website for more songs and info.

Mr. Jitters is the musical brain child of Nashville-based recording artist, Dylan Rowe

I met Dylan a few years ago when he was playing bass for The Matches (one of my personal favorites) and he has never ceased to impress, most recently with his debut effort that reminds me of Mike Patton-meets-The Urge (remember them?) and a taste of Jimmy’s Chicken Shack. Clever songwriting structures and unique melodies are just a couple of things that make these five-tracks stick out from the pack.

This EP is guaranteed to make you dance along. Needless to say, Mr. Jitters has now made my list of shows to catch.

Dylan recently joined onto the Maniac and Foxy Shazam tour, which will be trekking nationwide through April.

Tour dates can be seen here: http://foxyshazam.com/tabernacle2012tour

The debut EP, Multiplicity, drops this Tuesday, March 27th!  Order it here: http://nvy.gd/zjtsIH
