Anyone who follows me will attest to my fascination with the psychology of business. When I first saw the title of Leon’s book, I was intrigued to know just as much about the author, as I was the contents of the publication..

It didn’t take me long to realize (judging by what I read on his Amazon Profile Page) that Leon Forte is quite the savvy business man and economist, who has a story to tell in his new book, “The Secrets of an Intelligent Consumer”, that will enrich your financial well-being and enlighten you as to how to live a more-manageable life.

Want to read a sample chapter?

I somehow stumbled upon this website, and was instantly drawn to it.  Merely because of my interest in nice cars, and as most of my followers know, I’m a sucker for a strategic concept.

The idea within “The Symbols of Success” was quite mind-fragging, from the beginning.

The Most Stunning Project of the Century??”, I asked myself.  ”Only one way to find out..

I had to know more, so I searched and searched for a way to get in touch with the team.

I found myself on a telephone conversation with Yuri Seretski, the VP of Business Development for the Symbol of Success Project, and recorded the interview with his permission.  Check it out below.

Swedish Alternative Goth-Punk Rock??  Blending life, madness and controversy?? Whoa..

Strikingly, the custom-coined-genre actually makes fitting sense when I listened to MADNESS OF THE NIGHT’s songs on ReverbNation.

Their official website is super simple, which gives you an idea of the basic aesthetic needed these days when representing your independent project.

Because most of my readers are artists and musicians, it’ll hit home when I say that this band reminds me of all the bands they claim to resemble: Dead Can Dance, The Sisters of Mercy, New Model Army, Devil Doll, Fields Of The Nephilim.

Give them a shot, you’ll definitely like what you hear..

Our friend Jason Garriotte is having launching a music video contest, giving away over $1000 in cash and prizes, to anyone with a gift for creating video concepts and re-mixes.

Check out this link for the contest rules and details etc.

Here’s a video of Jason explaining his passion and reasoning for the campaign.

Here’s the interview that I did with Jason, explaining a little more about himself, and the contest as well:

Briefly introduce yourself, and the contest that you’re launching.

My name is Jason Garriotte and I release music as Chords of Truth.  A couple weeks ago I started a video contest that runs until August 26, 2012.  I am offering over $1000 in cash and prizes for essentially 2 different contests.  One is to create a

25-year old, Calgary-based multi-instrumental artist Kyley Styles has a story to tell.

Upon reading his bio, I came to learn that he is no amateur to the music business and he’s been playing in bands since he was a kid.  We got a good taste of his sense of humor via this quote we found on his Facebook page

“I didn’t work a year on these tracks for nothing. They explain who I was at many different points in my life. These songs have grown from nothing before my very eyes. If you don’t like them, Well… I don’t like you! I’m just kidding. Buy my album please?”

Like Kyley Styles on Facebook. (Because I did!)

Also, Follow Kyley on Twitter, and check out his YouTube channel.

(My Q/A interview with Kyley will be posted very soon!)

Whisker-A-NoGo ’ALBUM OF THE WEEK’ contributor: Mike McGill from INDIANS.

Ready, aaaaaaaaaand, go!
* * *

MM: I’m reviewing ___el ten eleven_(album name)_ by  __el ten eleven_(band name)__.

[How did you hear about the band/what was your first impression?]

MM: They sound like a mix between tortoise & the whitest boy alive__had a beautiful trippy baby.
Check out their official website here

MM: My favorite thing about the band is their writing. Super creative and full enough to be a 4 piece with the plethora of sound they create with a few looper pedals, some delay and octave decided. The kicker is, it’s only two dudes! A double necked bass/guitar and a drummer with a live kit and a keyboard on the side. The first self titled record is great from start to finish. One of my favorites in recent history, hands down.

MM: On a scale from 1-10:
Vocals: n/a (instrumental band:)
Musicianship: 10
Lyrics: n/a
Production: 9
Creativity: 10
Lasting Value: 10
Final Verdict: 10/10

I’d like to thank INDIANS for being rad.. and particularly Mike McGill for his contribution.  Like the band on Facebook and enjoy more music and videos!!

Based in Glasgow, Scotland is F.V.G., a one-man project with an arsenal of YouTube videos.  The first video that I saw was ‘Out of the Blue’, and the opening riff reminded me of one of my favorite bands, Brand New.  This, of course, made me interested to interview the artist:

Here’s my Q/A with Ferdi from F.V.G.:

Briefly introduce yourself, and where you’re from etc.

I am an up and coming musician in Glasgow, Scotland. My name is Ferdi and I study at university here and my artist name is F.V.G. I’ve lived in a few different countries and am an all round multi-national person, something which I try to impose upon my music. I have been playing music for the better part of a decade now and become more obsessed with it every day.

Having recently released their 14-track Mixtape this past Friday the 13th, Jersey-based hip-hop duo The Board of Education” step it up this time around, [compared to their EP] with more infectious hooks and grooves that will have you tapping your foot and bobbing your head for close to an hour.  This is definitely worth listening to!

Check them out on FACEBOOK, TWITTER and YOUTUBE.

My rating: 7.7/10

Here’s my Q/A with Ryan and Darryl, the founding members of TBOE:

Briefly introduce yourself, and the band:

Ryan: I’m Ryan, the other half of the Board of Education, I’m currently a 19 year old business student at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Darryl: Guess that makes me Darryl the other other half of The Board…as of right now I am 20 and currently attending community college.
